Welcome To A Country Girl At Heart
I grew up in the country in Fargo, North Dakota. I now live in  Oklahoma City. I am still a country girl at heart and always will be. One of my greatest joys is to get out of the city and see the country. I get weary of the city, it's sometimes draining, whereas the country is refreshing. There we can see God's creation instead of so much of man's creations. So, I wanted to include a page on "country". In one of my journels I wrote.... " Have been thinking a lot about "country" things lately  ....... about living in the country, what else I can do to make the house look more country. "Country" anything seems to make me feel good. It's comforting - I don't really know why - maybe because country things, places, are simple & old-fashioned. And... I guess I'm just a simple, old-fashioned country girl." Then I wrote this poem, or writing, on country things:
Country Things
Country is the fresh clean air
It's walking down a dusty road
And dreaming of the future.
Country is a garden full
of peas and corn and beans and carrots.
It's quiet here and peaceful
Where all you hear is the birds and wind
and things a growin.
It's laying in the fresh green grass
and lookin up at the clouds.
Country is a lazy day, where all you
want is to go outside and read a good book.
It' the smell of fresh rain, green grass,
hay and the grains of the earth.
It's laundry hung on the line to dry,
fluttering in the beeze.
It's mom's home-cooking and
especially the baking!
Country is the simple life
And I'm drawn to it.
Country is a dream, a place
I'd like to be in.
Country is my home
And I will always love it best!

Give Me Country

Give me wreaths hung on my door
Braided rugs upon my floor
Fresh cut flowers in vases
Curtains trimmed in eyelet lace....
"Welcome" signs on all the walls,
A cozy hearth when winter calls,
Ruffled sheets and pillow shams,
A cross-stitch sampler in my hands.
An antique rocker by the stairs,
And pillows tossed in all the chairs,
Bunnies, ducks, and hearts throughout
Add country touches, there's no doubt.
A gingham tablecloth that's blue,
A batch of fresh-baked cookies too.
A big front porch that has a swing,
A spot for gardening in the spring.
A playful cat, a lazy hound.
An old oak tree where shade abounds.
These are things that bring me cheer
So give me country to hold dear!
